Lucknow: Sunni Waqf Board’s decision of not filing a review petition in Supreme Court against Ayodhya verdict, received a mixed response from the Muslims leaders.
Vice president All India Muslim Personal Law Board and Shia leader Maulana Dr Kalbe Sadiq claimed that Muslims have faith in the constitution of their country hence Muslims have accepted the court’s judgment. ‘The centuries-old dispute has been put to rest. I had already told that Muslims should donate the land to their Hindu brothers’, he said.
General Secretary Majlis Ulama-e-Hind Maulana Kalbe Jawad opined that there was no point in the filing review petition. “Muslim Personal Law Board had told before the judgment that it would accept whatever would be the judgment. Now it should stick to its words” he said.
Maulana Khalid Farangi Mahali member All India board said AIMPLB has every right to file a review petition.
Convener Babri Masjid Action Committee Zafaryab Jilani advocate stated it is up to Sunni Waqf Board whether to file a review petition or not, but even if one party is in favour of filing it, it has constitutional right to do so.
Mufti Irfan Miyan Farangi Mahali is of the opinion that though it has the right to do so, it is not appropriate to pressurize Sunni Waqf Board to file a review petition.
Spokesman All India Shia Personal Law board Maulana Yasoob Abbas said our agenda is clear, we had told earlier also that whatever stand would be taken by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, Shia Personal Law Board will back it.
