Telangana: Head constable shoots self, dies

Nizamabad:  In a shocking incident, a head constable, shot himself with the revolver of a Sub-Inspector here on Wednesday around 8 am at Nizamabad.

The reason for his extreme step is yet to be known.

According to sources, HC Prakash Reddy died instantaneously with grievous head injuries. His body was later shifted to Nizamabad government hospital for an autopsy.

He has a son and a daughter. It is learned that Reddy was set to retire from service in about eight months.

 Karthikeya, Nizamabad Police Commissioner, rushed to the spot and inquired about the incident. He has ordered an immediate investigation into the unfortunate incident.

The constable has been working in the Indalwai Police Station for the past two
years. He reported for duty at 7.30 am, relieving the section in-charge Damodar.

According to preliminary enquiries, around 8.30 am, a sweeper heard some
tyre-burst like sound from the police station. When he inside, he noticed the body of Prakash in a pool of blood and immediately called others. The body has been sent to the Nizamabad GGH hospital for postmortem.

Nizamabad ACP Srinivas said a depart mental enquiry would be conducted. He
said Prakash Reddy was very sensitive in
nature. The Sub Inspector had left the weapon with the shift in-charge, he said.

Colleagues said the constable, a native of Nizamabad, had complained of health
problems and work pressure.
