Telangana: Minorities Dept. to get Rs. 1344 cr in budget

Hyderabad: Govt. of TS ultimately reduced the budget of the Dept. of Minorities Welfare for the financial year 2019-20. It allocated Rs. 1344 crore.

It may be mentioned that in view of week financial position of the State, Mr. KCR had instructed Dept. of Finance to reduce the budget provisions of all the departments this year.

Although, the Dept. of Minorities Welfare had proposed Rs. 2200 crore in the budget this year whereas, last year it was Rs. 1998 crore.

The officials of the Minorities Residential Schools had requested Finance Dept. not to reduce their budget.

It may be mentioned that in the year 2018-19, out of Rs. 1998 core, only Rs. 1380 crore were released whereas the officials claim that they have spent Rs. 1214 crore and Rs. 700 crore remain to be released.

Authentic sources indicated that last year, Rs. 73 crore was allocated for Overseas Scholarship scheme but this year, it has been reduced to Rs. 33 crore.

In the same manner, the budget for residential schools was Rs. 470 crore last year but this year, it has been reduced to R. 735 crore. For Makkah Masjid Rs. 2.35 crore have been allocated. It is reported that the budgets pertaining to SCs, STs and BCs have also been reduced.
