Telangana: Pay your power for this month as you had in Apr 2019

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Electricity Regulatory Commission (TSERC) has decided that the low tension power consumers can pay the electricity bill based on their previous month’s metering.

The decision had taken as the utility’s meter readers are unable to visit the premises of consumers to update the bill due to the ongoing lockdown to contain the spread of coronavirus pandemic.

T Sriranga Rao, Chairman of TSERC, in his order, has extended this relaxation to both the State Distribution companies through an interim order on the commission website.

According to a report of The Hindu, the current month bill will be based on the power consumption of March 2019 and billed in April. In the case of connections provided after April 1, 2019, the bills will be raised based on minimum demand.

The TSERC extended the relief announced by the Union Power Ministry to the Discoms (Distribution Company) for a moratorium on their payments for three months due to the lockdown.
