Town in Guatemala banned plastic products, using these natural materials instead

An indigenous town in Guatemala ( a Central American country) has banned the plastic products. They now use cloth napkins, woven basket and banana leaves instead of plastic bags or containers.

The town law, passed by majority vote in 2016, not only bans plastic bags and containers but also fines violators.

Mauricia Mendez, mayor of San Pedro De Luguna stated that “We went from door to door to educate our people on the important role that each and every one of them ha to play to rescue our planet.”

The Guatemalan Association of plastic products called the ban unconstitutional and filed the complaint with the government, watch the complete report from AJ+,
