Two day National seminar on Cyber Security & Image processing

Hyderabad: The Institute of Engineers Telangana chapter is organising a two day National Seminar on ‘Cyber Security and Image Processing” which will be inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Home Mr. G. Kishen Reddy on August 10th.

Disclosing this at a press conference here today Dr. G. Rameshwar Rao Chairman Institute of Engineers India (IEI) Telangana State Chapter, Mr. K. Subbi Reddy Member IEI Dr. K.M.M. Rao Senior Member and former Director ISRO Hyderabad said that the other dignatories who will grace the occasion include Jayesh Ranjan Principal Secretary Industries and Commerce Dr. B. Sriram Chief Executive Officer Cyber Security Centre for Excellence DSCI New Delhi who will address the key note address.

They informed that the seminar is aimed at exploring the connection between Cyber Security and Image Processing which are two different areas. There are several areas of concordance between the two . Protection of images and video sent over the internet from tampering and their authentication using cyber security/cryptographic tools has become an active area of research they said. They further explained that parallel use of image processing techniques like visual cryptography to enable secure transmission of different types of information has opened up new possibilities Dr. KMM Rao explained .

They said that visual cryptography involves the segmentation of information into mutually exclusive and individually random looking components and sending them over different paths . Here the advantage is if even one of the transmission is intercepted it cannot reveal any information . This is especially important because it is feared that with the advent of Quantum Computing and computational complexity alone cannot provide security Hence it is important to ensure that the data base is not tampered with .

The two day seminar will provide a common platform for experts to discuss and deliberate on the issues related to topics like Image processing for cyber Security, Image and video transmission , Stenganography Visual  Cryptography, Cyber Security and more.

The recommendation of the seminar will be forwarded to the concerned authorities and implementation agencies . The seminar will enable concerned engineers and scientist and the budding engineers to gain knowledge on various aspects of electronics Industry in general and new economic options available for practical implementation at all levels.
