Bahraich: A two-and-half-year-old girl was allegedly raped and killed by two minor boys of her village in Uttar Pradesh’ Bahraich, police said on Tuesday.
The incident took place at Manjjriya village under Visheshwarganj Police Station area.
The girl was playing outside her house along with her four year-old-sister when the boys aged 12 and 13 years took her away, SHO Ashok Singh said.
When the victim’s elder sister informed the family, they started looking for her. However, the girl’s body was found from inside a water tank hours later, the SHO said.
When the boys were questioned, they said that the girl had died due to asphyxia as she was eating a guava which got stuck in her throat and they hid the body in the tank out of fear, the SHO said.
The body was sent for post-mortem examination by a panel of doctors which found that she was raped and killed, the SHO said.
A case was lodged by the father of the deceased against the boys on Monday and they will be produced before the juvenile justice board before being sent to a juvenile home, the SHO added.
