New Delhi: Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) reportedly proposed major changes in the Preliminary Exam of Civil Service Examination (CSE).
According to the report published in The Print, the commission reportedly recommended the government to drop the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) paper from the examination.
In the month of June, the commission had shared its vision document with the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). In the document, the commission also recommended imposing penalty on the candidates who remain absent from the exam.
It may be mentioned that CSAT paper was first introduced in 2011.
After massive protests, the paper was made qualifying in nature in 2015. Currently, the candidate has to get 33% marks in it.
Although, CSAT tests candidates in areas of comprehension, decision-making, reasoning, basic math, etc., it has faced massive protests.
The commission wants to impose penalty on the candidates who remain absent on the exam day due to the fact that every year, around 10 lakh candidates apply for the CSE exam but only half of them attempt it.
