Facebook-owned messaging application WhatsApp will withdraw its services from certain devices across the globe confirmed sources.
The messaging application had previously issued a warning regarding the discontinuation of services starting February 1, 2020.
For people, who despite getting repeated warnings from the company did not upgrade their phones, WhatsApp will soon become non-existent for them.
The messaging application currently supports the iOS devices running iOS 9+ and Android devices running OS 4.0.3+ along with some other rare phones running Kai OS 2.5.1+, including the JioPhones.
Here’s a list of the operating systems where WhatsApp will terminate its services:
Android Phones
Smartphones running on Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread software and older will no longer receive the service.
iPhone OS 8
iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPod touch 5th generation, iPad 2, iPad with Retina display, iPad Air, iPad mini, and iPad mini with Retina display- WA services on these will be terminated.
Windows OS
WhatsApp will ditch its services for BlackBerry OS (including BlackBerry 10) and Windows Phone 8.0 and older on December 31st.
But Windows Phone users on 8.1 or above needn’t worry about a thing
Individuals using these OS will no longer be able to create new accounts or verify existing accounts after the given deadline.
The messaging app had also withdrawn its support for all Windows phones from December 31, 2019.
However, you always have the option of exporting your chats before WhatsApp becomes non-functional in your devices.
On another note, WhatsApp is also making a lot of changes in the app to improve the overall user-experience.
The application has recently rolled out the dark mode feature for the Android beta user and are also contemplating on rolling the feature out for iOS users soon.
