Jeddah: Newly election women members of the Jeddah Municipal Council received death threats on their mobile.

According to the report published in Arab News, two women members of the Jeddah Municipal Council have received death threats because they insisted on sitting at the same table with men at a council meeting.

It is to be noted that on 6th January, Lama Al-Suleiman and Rasha Hefzi wanted to sit along with her male colleague at a conference table for which some of the men had objected.

According to the female councilors, they have every right to attend meetings as equals with the men.

Meanwhile, Ehab Al-Suleiman, a legal adviser, said that the country’s security agencies should track down these individuals and should arrest them. He also said that there is no law barring women from sitting at the same table with men at council meetings.
