‘Daro mat,’ we will push Amit Shah out: Shiv Sena to Muslims

MUMBAI: Shiv Sena politician and Saamna editor Sanjay Raut on Saturday said that the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) should be opposed and that Daro mat (don’t be afraid) is the lesson Maharashtra has taught the country.”

Jo darr gaya so mar gaya

Addressing a CAA meeting in Mumbai organized by Jamaat e-Islamic Hind, the Rajya Sabha MP using the popular Bollywood dialogue “Jo Dar Gaya so mar Gaya”, asserted the Muslims that his party is firmly against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) because when it is clubbed with the National Register of Citizens (NRC), it is against Hindus too.

“My party is firmly in support of anti-CAA protests,” the Shiv Sena leader said.

He claimed that the BJP is still unable to digest the defeat in Maharashtra.

Maharashtra has shown the way to the country. The country is our religion. We all should be united, and this is what they (the BJP) are afraid of,” said Raut, according to news agency PTI.

We will push you out

Without naming Union home minister Amit Shah, who on Friday reiterated his party’s firm stand on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Raut was quoted as saying to Times Of India:

“Aap kahte ho ek inch bhi nahin hathenge. Hum dhakka dekar hata denge (You say you will not budge an inch. We will push you out).”

Excluding Muslims, the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), 2019, seeks to grant Indian citizenship to Hindu, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist and Parsi refugees from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh and who entered India on or before December 31, 2014.
