Spineless, cowards: Kangana to lead celebs silence on CAA row

MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut hit out at the leading Bollywood celebrities for their silence on the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Act and protests across the country.

In a strong-worded opinion, the Queen actor said that the biggest stars of Bollywood should be ashamed of themselves.

“The actors should be ashamed of themselves. I have no illusions about the fact that Bollywood is full of cowards who are full of themselves,” Kangana said in her latest interview with The Times of India

Backing the #ShameOnBollywood trend, Kangana accused the actors of “hiding behind their comfort zone.”

Calling the people from the film fraternity the “most scared” human beings she’s ever seen, “sissies”, “cowards” and “spineless, Kangana said,“They are made by people and for the welfare of the people if they can’t voice their opinion and are running scared of being trolled or afraid of political parties then the people of India need to know that they don’t deserve these platforms.”

She urged people to “stop projecting them as icons.”

The list of Bollywood celebrities who have come forward to outrightly support the students voicing protest against CAA has been steadily increasing.

However, leading Bollywood Khans such as Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan are eerily silent on the issue.

The Parliament had passed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 last week and it became an act after receiving assent from President Ram Nath Kovind.

Except Muslims, the Act seeks to grant Indian citizenship to refugees from Hindu, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist and Parsi communities fleeing religious persecution from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh, and who entered India on or before December 31, 2014.
