Twitterati call Jaaferi traitor, want him to shift to Europe

MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Javed Jaaferi was called ‘traitor’ and asked to leave India for expressing his views on the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (NRC) and National Register of Citizens (NRC).

On January 26, Jaaferi shared the news link that talked about European Union resolution against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

This did not go down well with a Twitter user who condemned his anti-CAA tweet by calling him a traitor and asking him to shift to Europe. “Why don’t you move to Europe. We don’t need traitors in our nation, the social media user tweeted.

An angry Jaaferi replied to the user, “YOUR nation ??? Kab kharida aapne ma’m ?? Last time I read the constitution it spoke of democracy, equality and right to dissent.. Wouldn’t know if you have made any changes privately though..kindly update.”

When former Member of Parliament and BJP leader Narendra Swaikar responded to the actor’s tweet, Jaaferi has a fitting reply to it.

Jaaferi has been actively participating in the protests against the contentious CAA and the proposed NRC and also called it dangerous and communal.

He was also among many signatories on an open letter expressing their solidarity with students protesting CAA.
