Fire at Yadadri thermal plant in Nalgonda, no casualties

The fire originated near the turbines at around 12:55 pm, but since it was a Sunday, no workers were present at the site.

Hyderabad: A fire occurred at the Yadadri Ultra Mega Thermal Power Station (YATP) in Veerlapalem village, Nalgonda, on Sunday, May 17, likely due to a short circuit, officials said.

Thick clouds of smoke and huge flames originated near the turbines at around 12:55 pm.

Since it was Sunday, no workers were present at the site, the Nalgonda District Fire Officer M Sandesh Kumar told Siasat.com.

The blaze was doused at around 1:30 pm. The extent of the damage is yet to be ascertained.
