Hyderabad: 3 arrested for forging firm’s stamp for business

Hyderabad: The Goshamahal police arrested three men for using a forged rubber stamp to do their own business on Saturday, August 22.

The men have been identified as Mohd Akber, Mohd Aleem, and Mohammed Khasim Pasha, all residents of Mailardevpally. They were produced before the court, which sent them to remand. The police also seized three smartphones and an ink stamp from them.

The investigation began when, on Friday, August 21, Karan Kumar, proprietor of Vinod Impex in Begum Bazar, alleged that two of his customers, Mohd Akbar and Mohd Aleem, had been using a forged stamp to obtain stock from him.

He alleged that in the past 2.5 months, the duo had obtained stock worth over Rs 24 lakh without actually making any payment and had even sold the stock to make a profit.

Kumar learnt about the deceit when he checked his own stock records.

When the police questioned Aleem, he allegedly admitted their involvement. He also handed over a car and a TV towards the outstanding amount. Police arrested Aleem from his residence. Akber was also caught at his residence, while Pasha was apprehended at his shop.

The complainant, however, sought legal action against the accused and recovery of the remaining cheated amount.

The Goshamahal Police registered a case under Sections 318(4) (cheating), 316(2) (criminal breach of trust), 336(3) (using forged documents or electronic records

), 338 (forgery of valuable records), and 340(2) read with 3(5) (joint criminal liability for using forged documents knowingly) of the BNS.
