Mohammed Azharuddin fulfills cancer warrior doctor’s last wish

Doctor Mishil Parekh is an oncologist at the Reliance Foundation Hospital, Mumbai.

Hyderabad: Telangana Minorities Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin on Wednesday, April 29, fulfilled the last wish of a doctor battling cancer for whom the former India cricket captain is a childhood hero.

Doctor Mishil Parekh is an oncologist at the Reliance Foundation Hospital, Mumbai. He has performed 1,800 surgeries, giving hope to people throughout his career by treating bone and musculoskeletal tumors.

According to a press release, after post‑graduation, Parekh trained at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, completed a fellowship at the University of Florida, USA, and became one of India’s youngest musculoskeletal oncologists.

The doctor has contributed to medical journals, served in academics, and founded the Sarcoma Education Foundation.

However Parekh is now suffering from cancer himself; he had a lifelong dream of meeting the former cricketer.

Parekh approached Balaji Manohar, President of Telangana Entrepreneurs Association, with a heartfelt message titled, “Seeking Your Support for a Special Meeting – My Last Wish.”

Moved by the sincere request, Manohar arranged the meeting during which Parekh was emotional as he stood before the minister.
