Pregnant woman, two daughters drown in swimming pool in Telangana

Hyderabad: A 26-year-old pregnant woman and her two daughters drowned in a swimming pool in Telangana’s Hanamkonda on Wednesday, April 1.

The incident occurred at Punnel village of Inavolu mandal. The deceased were identified as Azhauddin Farhat, Umera, 8, and Ayesha, 6. Her husband, Azaruddin, took the bodies to the Mahtma Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Warangal, claiming that they fell into the swimming pool and drowned.

However, Farhat’s family claimed that she and Azharuddin had been having constant arguments for the past few days. The victim’s mother said she is unaware of what happened at the swimming pool and suspects Azharuddin’s involvement in the mishap.

“She spoke to her younger sisters that Azharuddin was not a good person, but she didn’t tell me anything,” Farhat’s mother said in a statement. She alleged that Azharuddin’s family used to torture Farhat. The woman claimed that problems between the couple arose after the birth of their second daughter.

The woman said that when Farhat was pregnant for the third time, Azharuddin and his family forced her to have an abortion. “When my daughter was pregnant, they forced her to have an abortion, thinking she would give birth to a third daughter. Now, while she was pregnant, they were forcing her to go for an abortion,” the woman alleged.

Farhat’s mother said that when Azhar’s family forced her for abortion the third time, she refused to do so. “She had refused to go for an abortion, I don’t know if they killed my daughter and granddaughters,” the woman concluded.

Speaking to Siasat.com, Inavolu Police said, ” A case of murder has been registered under section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The woman’s husband is a suspect and is being interrogated.”
