Ramdev’s campaign targets spurious, foreign goods: Brij Bhushan

Gonda: Launching a scathing attack on yoga guru Ramdev on Friday, August 21, former BJP MP Brijbhushan Sharan Singh said the campaign he originally launched in the name of “swadeshi” has now expanded to include spurious products and foreign goods.

Throwing a challenge to Ramdev to hold a protest, Singh said if the yoga guru intends to launch an agitation, he should fight a decisive battle this time and do so “like a man”.

Speaking at an event held at a college at the Gonda district headquarters, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader addressed a question regarding Ramdev’s movement by noting that the yoga guru had started out championing the cause of “swadeshi” and therefore, his agitation was justified. However, he remarked sarcastically that Ramdev has now started manufacturing “foreign” undergarments as well.

Recalling Ramdev’s past protests, Singh said this time, the yoga guru should be told not to show up wearing “sindoor” and “salwar”. He urged him to protest like a man and fight a decisive battle.

Singh also claimed that questions have frequently been raised regarding the prevalence of spurious ghee in the country, adding that he holds Ramdev responsible for this.
