Rs 56.81 cr Bhongir Fort ropeway project to be ready by Oct 2

The ropeway is designed to handle 250 to 300 passengers every hour and will operate at a maximum speed of six metres per second.

Hyderabad: The Telangana government is developing a tourism project at Bhongir Fort under the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme with an investment of Rs 56.81 crore.

As part of the project, a 1-km ropeway will be introduced that will transport up to 300 visitors every hour.

During the inspection recently, Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao expressed displeasure over the delay in the project. He instructed officials to complete all works by October 2.

1020-metre ropeway planned for Bhongir Fort

As part of the Bhongir Fort Experiential Zone, a ropeway project worth Rs 17.91 crore is being built. The ropeway will stretch for 1020 metres and connect the base area to the top of the fort hill.

It will have six passenger cabins and one standby cabin with each cabin capable of carrying six people.

The ropeway is designed to handle 250 to 300 passengers every hour and will operate at a maximum speed of six metres per second.

Several visitor facilities to be added

Apart from the ropeway, the project includes several facilities aimed at improving the visitor experience. These include parking areas and approach roads, along with 20 electric vehicles for tourists.

A cafeteria and food kiosks are also being developed. Visitors will get access to a viewing gallery and an interpretation centre.

The project also includes restoration of heritage structures, beautification of water bodies, construction of new pathways and repair of old steps. Decorative lighting will be installed across the fort area.

CCTV cameras, a public announcement system, toilets, seating areas and other visitor amenities are also being provided.

Once completed, the project is expected to boost tourism at the historic Bhongir Fort.
