Telangana BJP MPs urge Centre to officially celebrate Sevalal Jayanthi

The BJP MPs urged Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat to take a decision before Sevelal Jayanthi on February 15, this year or the next.

Hyderabad: A delegation of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs from Telangana, including Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, DK Aruna, and M Raghunandan Rao, urged the Centre to officially celebrate the birth anniversary of Banjara social reformer Sant Sevalal Maharaj on February 15 this year, or at the very least, next year.

Speaking with the media after meeting Union minister of culture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in New Delhi on Wednesday, February 12, the MPs stated that people from the Banjara community make up 12 crore of India’s population, and in several states, the event is already being officially celebrated.

The MPs called on the Centre to officially commemorate the occasion nationwide and said they would raise the issue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home minister Amit Shah, if necessary.

The delegation urged the Union minister to make a decision before February 15.
