US-based trio win Nobel Prize for economics

Nobel Prize for economics was awarded to 3 US-based economists ‘for research on banks and financial crises’, on Monday.

Ben Bernanke, Douglas Diamond and Philip Dybvig have been awarded the honour for significantly improving our understanding of “the role of banks in the economy, particularly during financial crises, as well as how to regulate financial markets”, the jury said.
