A house caved in in Jharkhand's Dhanbad
Dhanbad: A house with three members of a family inside caved in during a land subsidence in Jharkhand’s Dhanbad district on Tuesday, March 31 evening, a police official said.
The incident took place at Tandabadi Basti under Sonardih police station limits.
Dhanbad Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Prabhat Kumar said a rescue operation has been initiated.
“Three people were there in the house when it caved in,” the SSP told PTI.
The land subsidence is suspected to have happened due to rains, he said, clarifying that there was no illegal mining in the area.
Baghmara MLA Shatrughan Mahto, however, claimed that at least four houses collapsed in the land subsidence.
He claimed that illegal mining is rampant in the area, which could be a reason for the incident.
