Hyderabad: Fire mishap at TSGENCO’s Ramagundam thermal power station 

Local reports and early indications point to a short circuit in the cable passing from the boiler to the turbine and boiler centre as the cause.

Hyderabad: A massive fire broke out on Tuesday, October 24, at the coal-based Ramagundam thermal power station in Peddapalli district. The coal energy plant, also known as B-thermal power station, is managed by Telangana State Power Generation Corporation Limited (TSGENCO)

Reportedly, flames engulfed the control room, mills, and essential equipment, and the extent of the damage is still being assessed.

No casualties were reported in the incident, and the fire was controlled by the following morning. TSGENCO has decided to cease all operations of its 50-year-old coal plant. 

TSGENCO authorities have not yet made official statements regarding the root cause of the fire accident. Local reports and early indications point to a short circuit in the cable passing from the boiler to the turbine and boiler centre as the cause.
