Hyderabad Milad-un-Nabi, Ganesh processions won’t coincide in 2026

Hyderabad: Hyderabad’s Milad-un-Nabi and Ganesh processions will not coincide in 2026, as they did in the last two years.

In 2024 and 2025, the Markazi Milad Juloos Committee postponed the Milad-un-Nabi processions in Telangana as the date coincided with Ganesh idol immersions.

Milad-un-Nabi processions in Hyderabad

The Markazi Milad Juloos Committee is making arrangements for the main Milad procession, scheduled for August 26.

There will be no change to the procession route compared with last year.

The procession is expected to commence after Zuhar prayers at the historic Makkah Masjid. It will then move through Gulzar Houz, Madina Building, Salar Jung Museum, Darul Shifa, Purani Haveli, Kotla Alijah and Bibi Bazaar.

The procession will end near Volta Hotel.

Other processions are also expected on the day.

However, there will be a complete ban on DJs and bike rallies during the Milad-un-Nabi procession, and anyone engaged in them will face strict action, the Hyderabad Police said.

How peace was maintained over the last two years

Last year, as the city was going to see Ganesh idol immersion on September 6, the committee decided to postpone the Milad-un-Nabi procession in Hyderabad and other districts.

Although Eid Milad-un-Nabi was observed on September 5, the processions were postponed as the date coincided with Ganesh idol immersions.

In 2024 too, the dates of Ganesh idol immersion and Milad-un-Nabi procession coincided. The date of Ganesh idol immersion was September 17, and Milad-un-Nabi was on September 16, 2024.

For the peaceful celebration of the festivals, it was decided that Milad-un-Nabi celebrations would be held on the scheduled date, but the procession would be taken out on September 19.

This year, as Milad-un-Nabi is on August 26 and Ganesh processions in Hyderabad are in September, the dates of the festivals won’t coincide.
