Hyderabad: The counting of votes in the elections to 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations in Telangana, a test of popularity for the ruling Congress, opposition BJP and BRS, began at 8 am on Friday, February 13.
The counting process of votes is expected to take time, as ballot papers were used in the election.
Postal ballots were taken up first for counting.
7:40 pm: Congress bagged a total of 1503 wards out of 2996 that went for polls.
7:25 pm: Telangana BJP president G Ramchander Rao said that the party has improved its standing in the municipal elections by securing a considerable number of seats across the state.
Speaking to the media in Hyderabad, Ramchander Rao said that the party has won 250 wards in the ongoing municipal polls. He stated that the BJP’s performance reflects growing support in urban local bodies across Telangana.
6:50 pm: BJP bagged the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation, whereas Congress won the Ramagundam Corporation. On the other hand, BRS won the Siricilla Municipality
6:20 pm: Congress wins all 15 wards in Dharmapuri Municipality, Jagtial.
6:15 pm: Several people were detained after police carried out a lathi charge near the Polytechnic Ground in Nizamabad Urban, as tensions spilled onto the streets during the Telangana municipal elections.
6:10 pm: Following the Congress party’s victory in the Urban Local Bodies elections across Telangana, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy met senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi in New Delhi on Friday.
Priyanka Gandhi congratulated the party leadership in Telangana and extended her warm wishes to leaders, activists, and grassroots workers.
6:00 pm: Telangana’s ruling Congress party has bagged at least 62 out of 116 municipalities and three out of seven corporations, as the counting of votes continued on Friday. BRS captured power in 12 municipalities while Forward Block captured one urban local body.
There were no clear winners in 37 municipalities. This triggered camp politics by both Congress and BRS to win over independents and others to get the posts of chairpersons and vice-chairpersons.
Results from four municipalities were awaited.
5:50 pm: In the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation, AIMIM won in 3 wards. The candidates who won on the party ticket are Arshiya Tabassum, Nazia Tarranum, and Rafath Fatima.
5:25 pm: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) won 8 wards and is leading in 4 wards in Nizamabad Municipal Corporation.
4:39 pm: Nizamabad Corporation (36 of 60 wards declared):
As per the latest trends, the BJP is leading with 19 seats, followed by the Congress with 10, while the BRS has not secured any seats so far.
4:38 pm: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu said the municipal and corporation poll results reflect a clear mandate for people-centric governance. He termed the victory as recognition of the government’s work over the past two years in education, healthcare, employment and infrastructure under the Chief Minister’s leadership. Assuring continued commitment, he said the government would strive to fulfil the aspirations of the people with greater responsibility.
4:37 pm: The CPI has taken the lead in the Kothagudem Municipal Corporation.
According to the latest figures, the CPI is ahead with 21 seats, followed by the Congress with 17. The BRS has secured 6 seats, while Independents have won 5 and the BJP has claimed 1 seat.
4:09 pm: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) consolidated its position in Gaddapotharam Municipality in Patancheru constituency after Independent candidate Potharam Satish Mudiraj joined the party on Friday, the party said.
The municipality, which has a total of 18 wards, witnessed the BRS securing victory in 14 wards under the supervision of party MLC Shambhipur Raju, who served as the election in-charge. With Satish’s induction into the party in the presence of the MLC, the BRS tally in the civic body has now risen to 15.
4:06 pm: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) emerged victorious in a closely contested battle with the Congress across the four municipalities in Jogulamba Gadwal district.
The district has a total of 77 wards — 10 in Alampur, 20 in Ieeja, 10 in Waddepalle and 37 in Gadwal. Of these, BRS candidates won 30 wards, while the Congress secured 29. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won seven wards, the AIFB claimed eight, and two wards were won by Independent candidates.

4:00 pm: The Kodada Municipality has a total of thirty-five wards.
The Congress won twenty-six seats, the BRS secured three seats, and Independent candidates won six seats.
3:58 pm: In a significant milestone in the local body elections, Nagilla Sudhakar has become the first transgender person to be elected as a ward member in Chityala municipality in the district. Contesting as an Independent candidate from Ward 1, Sudhakar defeated nominees of major political parties, winning by a margin of over 100 votes.
3:49 pm: The Congress is leading in 90 of the 116 municipalities, while the BRS is ahead in 12 and the BJP in one. Twelve municipalities appear to have delivered a hung verdict.
3:37 pm: The Congress party swept the Madhira municipality in Khammam district with a decisive mandate, winning 18 of the 22 wards in the civic body. The BRS managed to secure one ward, while three wards were won by Independent candidates, according to the final results.
The ruling party thus clinched the key municipal body in the Madhira Assembly constituency, which is represented by Deputy Chief Minister M. Bhatti Vikramarka.
The Congress also appears set to capture the remaining civic bodies in the district — Wyra, Edulapuram, Sathupalli and Kalluru — where it is currently leading in a majority of wards, as per the latest counting trends.
3:36 pm: As of 2 pm, the AIMIM had secured victories in 10 of the 126 wards in Rangareddy district, which includes the municipalities of Amangal, Ibrahimpatnam, Shadnagar, Shankarpally, Moinabad, and Chevella.

3:17 pm: The BJP has filed a complaint with the Telangana DGP alleging that the Nalgonda DSP assaulted District President Dr. Nagam Varshith Reddy during polling at the 10th Division booth on February 11, 2026. The party claimed the officer allowed groups to enter the polling station in batches, raising concerns of bogus voting, and allegedly manhandled Dr. Reddy when he questioned the irregularities. The BJP has sought the DSP’s suspension and an independent inquiry.
2:10 pm: The AIMIM has won six seats in the Adilabad Municipal Council and is leading in two more wards.
The winning candidates are: Ward 34 (Nazeer Ahmed), Ward 22 (Sameena Begum), Ward 44 (Mohammed Roheet), Ward 17 (Kishore), Ward 8 (Nathsen), and Ward 2 (Niyatullah).
2:08 pm: Out of the 80 wards across five municipalities in Wanaparthy district, results for 61 wards have been declared so far.
Of these 61 wards, the Congress has won 36, followed by the BRS with 15 and the BJP with seven. Independents have secured two wards, while the CPI(M) has won one.
2:07 pm: Congress has secured a clear majority in Bhoothpur Municipality of Mahabubnagar district. Of the 10 wards, seven were won by the Congress, while the BJP secured two and the BRS won one.
2:06 pm: In Ranga Reddy district, results have been declared for 73 wards so far, with the Congress winning 27, the BRS 32, the BJP nine, and the remaining seats going to Independents.

The Congress (INC) has won 11 wards — 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 14, 16, 18, 23, 25 and 29. The CPM secured Wards 20 and 31, the BRS won Ward 10, and an Independent candidate claimed Ward 3.
Wyra:
The Congress secured eight wards — 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 13 and 16. The CPM won Ward 10, while an Independent emerged victorious in Ward 19.
Sathupalli:
The Congress won 10 wards — 1, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 13, 16, 19 and 22 — while the BRS secured Wards 2 and 11.
Kallur:
The Congress claimed eight wards — 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 10 and 11. The BRS won Wards 6, 8, 13 and 14.
Madhira (22 wards):
The Congress dominated with 18 wards — 1 to 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 18, 20, 21 and 22. The BRS won Ward 19, while Independents secured Wards 10, 16 and 17.
1:23 pm: Out of the 100 wards across four municipalities in Vikarabad district, results for 41 wards have been declared so far, including those elected unanimously.
Of these 41 wards, the Congress has won 20, followed by the BRS with 14. The BJP has secured three wards, while the AIMIM and Independents have won two wards each.

Kallur:
The Congress emerged victorious in seven wards — 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 10 and 11. The BRS won Wards 8, 13 and 14.
Madhira:
The Congress dominated with 14 wards — 1 to 9, 11, 14, 15, 21 and 22. The BRS won Ward 19, and an Independent candidate secured Ward 10.
12:58 pm: Out of the 100 wards across four municipalities in Vikarabad district, results for 28 wards have been declared so far, including those elected unanimously.
Of these 28 wards, the Congress has won 13, the BRS 12, while the AIMIM and BJP have secured one ward each. One ward was won by an Independent candidate.
12:42 pm: Out of 1,615 wards where counting trends are available, the Congress is leading in 876, followed by the BRS in 462, the BJP in 138, and Others in 139.

12:30 pm: Commotion broke out during the counting of votes for the Luxettipet Municipality elections in Mancherial district.
Candidates staged a protest after alleging that two ballot boxes from Ward No. 3 were found without sealed covers.
12:04 pm: Out of the 30 municipalities declared so far, the Congress is leading in 24, while the BRS is ahead in six. The BJP is yet to open its account.
11:59 am: Results for all 12 wards of Devarakadra Municipality in Mahbubnagar district have been declared. The Congress won six wards, securing a clear majority, while the BRS claimed four wards. The BJP and an Independent candidate won one ward each.
11:41 am: Out of the 448 wards declared so far, the Congress has won 240, followed by the BRS with 140 and the BJP with 37.
Among other parties, the AIFB has secured six wards, while the AIMIM and CPI(M) have won one ward each.
Independents have emerged victorious in 14 wards, and 12 wards were decided unanimously.
11:40 am: In Nereducharla Municipality, Gugulothu Ravinder Naik (BRS) won Ward 1, while Yarava Lakshmi (Congress) secured Ward 2. Dondapati Appireddy (BRS) emerged victorious in Ward 3, and Konatham Manjula (Congress) won Ward 4.
Nannepanga Srinivas (Congress) claimed Ward 5, followed by Nukala Sandeep Kumar Reddy (Congress) in Ward 6. Jyothi Vasa (BRS) won Ward 7, and Talla Lavanya (Congress) secured Ward 8.
Enjamuri Srikanth (Congress) won Ward 9, while Enjamuri Venkatamma (BRS) took Ward 10. Mohammed Shaheen (BRS) secured Ward 11, and Abdul Kaleem Mohammad (Congress) won Ward 12.
Bolishetty Laxmaiah (Congress) emerged victorious in Ward 13, Arruri Vuaya Laxmi (JSP) won Ward 14, and Konatham Venkat Reddy (Congress) secured Ward 15.
11:38 am: Out of 23 municipalities declared so far, the Congress has won 18, while the BRS has secured five. The BJP and other parties are yet to open their account.

According to the latest ward-wise trends, the Congress is leading in 610 wards, followed by the BRS in 290, the BJP in 75, and Others in 94.
11:34 am: Of the 423 results declared so far, the Congress (INC) has won 224 seats, while the BRS has secured 131 and the BJP 37. The AIFB has won six seats, while the AIMIM and CPI(M) have secured one seat each.
11:31 am: Out of 953 wards where trends are available, the Congress is leading in 525, followed by the BRS in 274 and the BJP in 71. Others are ahead in 83 wards.
11:12 am: According to early trends, the Congress is leading in 441 wards, while the BRS is ahead in 236 and the BJP in 63 wards.
11:01 am: As per early trends, results have been declared in 626 of the 2,586 wards. The Congress is leading with 345 wards, followed by the BRS with 186, the BJP with 45, and Others with 50.
Overall Municipalities tally (8 of 116 declared)
Out of eight municipalities declared so far, the Congress has won six, while the BRS has secured two. The BJP is yet to open its account.
10:58 am: The State Election Commission (SEC) stated that under Rule 63, once a candidate is declared elected by the Returning Officer under Rule 15 or Rule 62, the Returning Officer must issue an Election Certificate in Form XXVII at the earliest.
The SEC further clarified that the officer must immediately obtain a duly signed acknowledgement from the candidate confirming receipt of the certificate.
10:53 am: In Narayanpet, the BJP led in Ward 1 with 527 votes, followed by Congress with 464 and BRS with 84 votes.
In Ward 4, the BJP secured 415 votes, ahead of BRS with 267 and Congress with 76 votes. Four votes were declared invalid.
Ward 7 saw BRS take the lead with 456 votes, while Congress polled 390 and the BJP received 144 votes. The “Pressure Cooker” symbol secured 21 votes, and one vote was cast for NOTA.
In Ward 10, the “Ring” symbol topped the tally with 449 votes, followed by the BJP with 386 and Congress with 160 votes. BRS received 10 votes, while three voters opted for NOTA.
10:52 am: In Parakal Municipality of Hanamkonda district, BRS candidate Venkata Swami Dubasi won Ward 1, while Rani Tummala secured victory in Ward 6.
From the BJP, Vijay Kumar won Ward 15, Akula Lavanya triumphed in Ward 12, Bejjanki Poornachari secured Ward 19, and Purna Chari Bejjanki won Ward 9.
Congress candidates Eku Divya and Subhadra emerged victorious in Wards 4 and 17, respectively.
10:43 am: Out of 390 results declared in the 2,586 municipalities, the Congress has won 218 seats, while the BRS has secured 115 and the BJP 26.
10:35 am: The key to the strong room in Huzurabad, Karimnagar district, went missing. Officials broke open the strong room lock using a crowbar.
10:23 am: Sunkari Alivelu, the Congress nominee from Ward 9 of Nagarkurnool Municipality, secured victory with a margin of 315 votes. Election officials handed over the certificate of victory to her.
10:21 am: The Congress has registered a clean sweep in Husnabad Municipality, emerging victorious in Wards 4, 5, 6, and 7.
10:19 am: Congress party candidate Pothula Chandrakala from Ward 18 in Nagarkurnool secured victory with a margin of 215 votes.
10:16 am: The Congress has taken a decisive lead in the ongoing Telangana municipal election couting, winning 102 municipalities across the state so far. The party’s performance underscores its strong foothold in urban local bodies and sustained backing among municipal voters.
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has secured 51 municipalities, placing second in the overall tally, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won 15 municipalities, trailing well behind the Congress.
10:13 am: A total of 488 postal ballots were issued in Adilabad, of which 436 were received. Out of these, 425 were declared valid, while seven were rejected. Four voters opted for NOTA.
10:12 am: In the postal ballot count for Chandur Municipality, a total of 20 votes were cast. The Congress secured 13 votes, establishing a clear lead in the segment, while the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) polled 6 votes.
Details of the remaining votes are awaited as the counting of regular ballots is still underway.
10:11 am: The Telangana Municipal Polls–2026 were held on Wednesday, February 11, across 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations.
Among the municipalities, the highest voter turnout of 91.91% was recorded in Choutuppal Municipality of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, while the lowest turnout of 59.66% was reported in Nandikonda Urban Local Body in Nalgonda district.
In the municipal corporations, Nalgonda Urban Local Body registered the highest polling percentage at 77.36%, whereas Nizamabad Corporation recorded the lowest at 59.12%.
10:00 am: Telangana DGP Shivadhar Reddy has warned that strict action will be taken against anyone who misbehaves with or attempts to target police personnel or other government officials deployed on municipal election duty in the state.
8:00 am: Counting of votes begins
Earlier, the State Election Commission (SEC) said in a statement that adequate security arrangements have been made to ensure peace and order. Section 163 of BNSS (prohibitory orders) would be in force around the counting centres.
Only the counting supervisors, counting assistants, candidates and their election and counting agents would be allowed inside the counting hall.
Director General of Police (DGP) B Shivadhar Reddy said comprehensive and foolproof security arrangements have been put in place for the counting of votes.
Nearly 12,000 police personnel, supported by armed forces and Quick Response Teams have been deployed at the counting centres to maintain law and order, he said.
Webcasting would be made in all the counting centres and outside the strong rooms, the SEC said.
Over 73 per cent of voters exercised their franchise on February 11 in the election to 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations.
