Petrol pump set up by women's SHGs in Narayanpet
Hyderabad: Telangana chief minister Revath Reddy inaugurated several projects in the Narayanpet district on Friday, February 21, including a petrol pump set up under the Zilla Mahila Samakhya, a collective of women’s self-help groups (SHGs).
The state has claimed that this is the first time a petrol pump has been set up under a women’s self-help group collective at a cost of Rs 1.23 crore. The chief minister has also directed officials to identify lands to set up similar bunks across all Assembly constituencies.
Aside from this, Revanth Reddy also laid the foundation stone for the construction of Narayanpet Government Medical College and Hostel at a cost of Rs 130 crore.
Speaking at the event, Telangana chief minister Revanth Reddy announced that the Narayanpet Medical College would be soon renamed after late Congress leader Chittem Narsi Reddy.
Chittem Narsi Reddy is the father of BJP’s Mahabubnagar MP DK Aruna.
Chittem Narsi Reddy was an MLA in the YSR government of the undivided Andhra Pradesh. He was gunned down in a Maoist attack in 2005, during an Independence Day event at a school in Mahbubnagar.
During his tour of Narayanpet district on Friday, the chief minister performed Bhumi Puja for the construction of the Indiramma houses of Bangali Devamma, one of the beneficiaries of the state government’s Indiramma housing scheme in Appakapalle village of Narayanpet mandal.
Before that, he inaugurated the newly-built petrol bunk being operated by Narayanpet Zila Mahila Samakhya of self-help group (SHG) women in the same village.
While interacting with the SHG women, he announced that the state government will distribute two good sarees to 67 lakh SHG women across the state every year, at a cost of Rs 1,000 crore.
