TGPSC Group 1 recruitment: Telangana HC halts appointment letters issuance

The TGPSC had recently completed the Group 1 Mains examination and was preparing to finalise appointments.

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has declined to grant a stay on the ongoing Group-1 recruitment process conducted by the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC).

The court permitted the continuation of certificate verification for selected candidates but instructed TGPSC not to issue appointment letters until the legal proceedings are concluded.

Twenty candidates filed petitions challenging the recently announced Group-1 general ranking list, alleging irregularities in the evaluation of the mains examination papers.

The petitioners argued that improper evaluation led to the loss of opportunities for deserving candidates. They asserted that the evaluation and recruitment processes violated established guidelines and requested the court to order a re-evaluation of answer sheets or, alternatively, to conduct the mains examination again.

The petitioners also urged the court to ensure that any re-evaluation or inquiry into the process be conducted either under the supervision of the High Court or by an independent agency.

Both the Telangana government and TGPSC were named as respondents in the case.

After hearing the arguments, the High Court adjourned further proceedings to April 28.

In the interim, while certificate verification may proceed, the court’s directive to withhold appointment letters ensures that no final appointments will be made until the matter is resolved in court.
