Two 19-year-olds held for house thefts in Warangal, Rs 12L goods recovered

Both accused were habitual consumers of ganja and alcohol and had taken to burglary to fund their habits, the police said.

Hanumakonda: Two 19-year-olds were arrested in Telangana’s Warangal on Wednesday, April 1, for a series of house burglaries in locked homes across the Hanumakonda and Kazipet areas, with police recovering stolen goods, including 35 grams of gold jewellery, cash and a haul of electronic items valued at over Rs 12 lakh.

The arrested accused have been identified as Bingi Raghu alias Sonu and Mohammad Asad, both residents of Hanumakonda.

According to Warangal Police Commissioner Sun Preet Singh, both accused were habitual consumers of ganja and alcohol and had taken to burglary to fund their habits. Raghu had broken into locked houses in Kotthur, Kumar Palli, under Subedari limits, and Srinagar Colony under Hanumakonda Police Station jurisdiction in January last year, making off with gold and silver jewellery and cash.

Asad had targeted a locked house in Bapuji Nagar in the Kazipet area on March 23, stealing two televisions, laptops, cameras, mobile phones, watches and other electronic items.

A special team constituted by the police tracked the accused using surveillance technology and apprehended them on Wednesday morning when they were found loitering suspiciously near Hanumakonda Bus Stand. During interrogation, both confessed to the offences, leading to the recovery of the stolen property.
