Shah Rukh Khan (Team SRK Instagram)
Mumbai: Shah Rukh Khan aka Badshah of Bollywood, is not just a superstar in India but a global icon with millions of fans across the world. From his films to his personal life and even his smallest gestures, everything about him grabs attention and continues to trend online. Over the years, many of his colleagues and friends have shared stories that highlight not just his stardom, but also his generosity and principles.
One such story has now resurfaced on the internet.
In an interview with Pinkvilla in 2025, late filmmaker Ravi Chopra’s wife, producer Renu Chopra, recalled how Shah Rukh Khan supported her son Abhay Chopra’s directorial debut, Ittefaq (2017), during a difficult time.
She shared that when she reached out to SRK, he showed immense respect and kindness. Recalling their conversation, she said: “Maine kaha, ‘Dekh, paise mere paas nahi hai,’ toh he said, ‘Woh main laga dunga.’ Maine kaha, ‘Baki mere bacche puri tarah se dil laga ke picture banaenge.’”
Renu Chopra also revealed that SRK didn’t even read the script before agreeing. Instead, he believed in her son Abhay.
“Unhone kahani bhi shayad padi nahi. His principle was, ‘I never back the horse; I back the jockey.’ He said, ‘If your son is backing it, I’ll back it.’”
What truly stood out was Shah Rukh Khan’s approach towards money. Renu Chopra shared that even after the film was completed, when financial settlements were being discussed, SRK refused to charge any interest on the amount he had invested.
She recalled: “And to this day… the money was always 50-50 down the line. And when the movie was completed, like all other finances, there was normally an interest rate. He said, ‘Nahi, ye haraam hai mere liye. Main nahi lunga.’”
This incident once again highlights how SRK stays true to his personal beliefs and values, even while being one of the biggest stars in the world. His decision not only reflects generosity but also a strong commitment to his principles.
On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan will next be seen in the action-thriller King, directed by Siddharth Anand. The film is also expected to feature his daughter Suhana Khan along with Abhishek Bachchan in key roles. It is slated for a December 2025 release.
