Hyderabad: Seven people tested positive for drugs at Quake Arena Pub in Kondapur during a raid conducted by Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) on Thursday, April 2.
EAGLE Force, along with the Cyberabad Narcotics police and the Gachibowli police, formed six teams to conduct a surprise raid based on information that the pub was hosting a special party featuring international DJ ‘Black Coffee’.
Officials gathered information on the attendees prior to the raid and shortlisted 64 individuals suspected of drug consumption.
Without disrupting the event, the teams conducted a surprise check and identified five persons for testing. Four tested positive for ganja and benzodiazepine after urine tests, and additional testing revealed three more individuals positive for ganja and methamphetamine.
The individuals reportedly admitted to drug abuse. Information about their networks was collected, and their parents/guardians will be contacted to ensure they undergo de-addiction programs, with the hope that they have not developed severe dependency.
The apprehended persons were handed over to the Gachibowli police for further enquiry, and a case has been registered under Sections 8(c) read with 27(a), 27(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Further investigation is in progress.
