Hyderabad: Intense thunderstorms are expected to continue across multiple locations, including Khairtabad, Jubliee Hills, Shaikpet, Madhapur, Kukatpally, Miyapur, RC Puram, Serlingampally, Qutbullapur, Balanagar, Alwal, Gajularamaram, Malkajgiri, Tirumalgiri, Kapra, Lb Nagar, Hayathnagar, till 7:30 pm, according to local weather enthusiast T Balaji.
He has also predicted severe thunderstorms during the night hours in the southern and western districts of Telangana, including Gadwal, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, Mahabubnagar, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Rangareddy, Nagarkurnool, Medak, Kamareddy and Nalgonda.
An orange warning has also been issued by the Indian Meteorological Department, Hyderabad.
Residents are requested to stay indoors and follow advisories issued by authorities.
Many areas of the city have suffered waterlogging, causing inconvenience to commuters.
Due to peak hours, traffic movement has slowed from Nanal Nagar X Road, Rethibowli, Mehdipatnam Bus Stop, SD Hospital, NMDC and Masab Tank Flyover.
People heading towards PVNR Expressway are advised to exit at Laxmi Nagar ramp and take a left from Nanal Nagar towards Shaikpet, then take a right at Shaikpet towards Jubilee Hills and so on to avoid congestion.
The Musarambagh Bridge has also been closed to traffic due to the overflowing Musi River.
Commuters travelling between Musarambagh and Amberpet/Golnaka have been advised to use the Golnaka Bridge as an alternate route.
Traffic police are on the ground ensuring smooth vehicular movement in areas of Mythri Vanam and Saifabad.
Commuters travelling from Panjagutta towards Begumpet are advised to take alternate routes due to heavy waterlogging near GRT, Praja Bhavan.
Telangana Public Health and Family Welfare Ministry on Thursday, September 18, released an advisory asking citizens to exercise caution during the ongoing heavy rains forecast for the next two days.
The government informed that special arrangements have been made in public health institutions, such as extra beds, IV fluids, and necessary medicines. Medicines and ORS sachets are also being replenished with ANMs, ASHAs, and Anganwadi workers to deal with any emergencies.
