Hyderabad: Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Tuesday, May 26, protected land worth Rs 4,000 crore through their operations in Gandipet and Serilingampally.
In the first case, the agncey removed encroachments from nearly 22 acre of Kota Cheruvu located in Kokapet village of Gandipet mandal. The land is worth approximately Rs 2,200 crore, the agency said.
Approximately 1.20 acre had been occupied by Goldfish Villas, who had built play areas and parks within the FTL, while several construction companies had encroached on another 20 acre, HYDRAA stated in a release.
Kota Cheruvu’s Full Tank Level spans 72 acre and HYDRAA has now set up a fence defining its boundaries.
In a different operation on the same day, HYDRAA removed road encroachments spanning 1,700 yards in front of the Jewel Heights gated community in Kaithalapur area of Kukatpally.
A cattle shed and a construction company’s office room were demolished after giving due notice, HYDRAA said.
Later in the day, HYDRAA removed encroachments from 6.05 acre of Edulakunta lake in Khanamet village of Serilingampally mandal.
Encroachers had reportedly diverted the canal that allowed floodwater from Tammidikunta to flow into the lake and altered the lake’s boundaries and canals.
After numerous complaints from locals and a case filed in the National Green Tribunal, HYDRAA confirmed the presence of a 6.5 acre lake based on village and revenue records and images from the National Remote Sensing Centre.
On Tuesday, the agency demarcated the lake boundaries and erected fencing around the lake.
Additionally, it protected the 5.16 acres of government land in the adjacent survey numbers 11/37. The approximate value of the 11.21 acre protected in Serilingampally comes up to Rs 1,800 crore.
