Student attempts suicide at engineering college in Telangana

The student was allegedly upset after his parents were contacted due to his poor attendance.

Hyderabad: A student allegedly upset after his parents were contacted due to poor attendance, attempted suicide at an engineering college in Telangana’s Medchal on Thursday, February 12.

The incident occurred at Srineedhi College where the student, Kalyan, jumped from a building on campus. Videos shared on social media showed the student being stretchered off by medical staff.

After being alerted, the Medchal police arrived at the college and initiated an inquiry into the matter.

Previous incident

On January 31, 2026, an engineering student died by suicide in Hyderabad after being accused of cheating in examination.

The student, 19-year-old Ronak Raj a native of Bihar. He was pursuing his first year of engineering at the SVKM NMIMS institute.

According to reports, the college staff had accused him of being involved in cheating during the first-year semester examinations.

Reports indicated that the student was allegedly distressed and humiliated following the accusation.
