Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C Sudarshan Reddy chaired a high-level video conference on Monday, August 24, with District Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers, and Hyderabad DEO officials to review the conduct of Gram and Ward Sabhas across the state.
The meeting focused on the conduct of Gram or Ward Sabhas across all polling stations in the state and related electoral roll matters. The CEO provided instructions to the DEOs, EROs, and AEROs regarding the organisation and conduct of Gram/Ward Sabhas, as well as the issuance of notices and the holding of hearings for voters with anomalies and logical discrepancies in their records.
One of the instructions given by the CEO was for relevant booth-level officers (BLOs) to publicly read out the details of Absent, Shifted, Dead, and Duplicate (ASDD) voters during the Gram/Ward Sabhas. The names of those included must also be read aloud, he said.
Reddy said details of applicants whose names were not included in the draft electoral roll, despite having applied either online or offline, must be identified and examined.
The officials were directed to raise awareness among eligible citizens who are to turn 18 by October 1, 2026, to submit Form 6, the declaration form, and necessary supporting documents to register their names in the electoral roll.
Additionally, the public should be informed of Form 7 for deletion of names and Form 8 for corrections.
The officials were also asked to educate the citizens on the documents required by the Election Commission of India (ECI). Matters related to the Special Intensive Revision of the electoral rolls must be discussed in such gatherings, with the BLO recording every detail, said CEO Reddy.
The electoral officials were instructed to quickly share lists of anomalies and ‘No Mapping’ cases with respective political parties, and measures must be taken to ensure meetings with parties weekly.
The CEO later reviewed the status of notice generation and service, the conduct of hearings, and arrangements for Gram/Ward Sabhas with the DEOs of all districts.
