Hyderabad: The Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) of the City Civil Court in Hyderabad has awarded compensation of Rs 1.06 crore to the family of Sub-Inspector Nenavat Srinivas, who died in a road accident involving a TGSRTC bus.

While determining the compensation, the tribunal considered the deceased officer’s salary and future prospects, ultimately fixing the amount at Rs 1.06 crore.

During the proceedings, the petitioners argued that Srinivas’s wife, who has since remarried, should not be entitled to any share in the compensation. However, the tribunal clarified that a widow retains the right to compensation even after remarriage.

The tribunal directed the TGSRTC authorities to pay the compensation amount with 9% interest. It also ordered that the sum be distributed equally among the deceased’s mother, minor brother, and wife.
