
Hyderabad: The National Highway Authority of India has announced the construction of a six lane flyover at Rs 98 crore to boost connectivity for All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bibinagar.
The 1.70 km long stretch will be constructed on the Hyderabad-Yadgiri section of NH-163. According to reports, it will bypass the accident blackspots in the area.
The infraSstructure has been redesigned to address safety concerns and heavy traffic near the medical institute.
Specifications of the project
Acording to the NHAI, the flyover will measure 690 meters, however the scope of the project extend upto 1.70 km which would reach the gates of the institiute’s emergency department. The NHAI will also construct new services roads meassuring 1.48 km on both sides of the flyover for commuters traveling from Bhuvanagiri and surrounding areas
This will help hospital-bound traffic to commute away from the high-speed lanes, ensuring a smooth flow for patients, medical staff, and emergency vehicles.
Features of the flyover
Beyond the bridge structure, the project includes safety features such as installation of modern highway lighting, traffic signs, and high-visibility safety markings.
Apart from safety, the new highway will also consist new bus shelters and footpaths with integrated drainage systems on both sides of the road.
The construction of the highway will lead to reconstruction of six culverts to improve local water management.
