Hyderabad: The Nagarkurnool district administration has provided Rs 1 lakh as immediate relief to Ganesh, father of the two-month-old who died during the Kummera Mallanna Jatara on February 18, along with outsourced employment at the Nagarkurnool Government Medical College and a 2BHK house for his family.
This was disclosed by the Telangana Backward Classes (BC) Commission, which received a detailed report from Nagarkurnool District Collector Badhavath Santosh on February 28, five days after the Commission had sought it on February 23.
According to a statement issued by the BC Commission on Monday, March 2, the Collector’s report covered all incidents that took place between February 18 and 21 during the Jatara, which drew approximately 20,000 devotees between February 17 and 20.
The report provides a chronological account of events. On February 18 at around 8.30 pm, U Srinivas Reddy lodged a complaint at Nagarkurnool Police Station against Chandrakala, Bauramma and Ganesh. An hour later, at around 9.30 pm, Ganesh lodged a counter-complaint against Srinivas Reddy and six others.
On February 21, Mounika brought her two-month-old baby to Nagarkurnool Hospital at around 6 am, saying the infant had been unresponsive since morning. The duty doctor declared the baby dead at around 7 am. “Based on the suspicion expressed by the mother, Mounika, the case was registered as a suspicious death case at Nagarkurnool Police Station,” the Collector’s report stated.
Two days later, on February 23, Srinivas Reddy, Madhusudan Reddy and Srikanth Reddy were arrested and remanded to judicial custody. Six other accused remain absconding.
The Collector’s report also noted that Mounika has not yet submitted certificates to confirm her caste. To ascertain this, directions were given to the Tahsildar of Mahammadabad, who reported through a letter on February 26 that Mounika’s mother Balakrishnamma belongs to the Pichchaguntla (Vamsaraj) community, listed under BC-A, Serial no 18.
The Commission was also informed that the infant was born on December 21, 2025, and was admitted to Nagarkurnool Government Hospital before being referred to Niloufer Hospital in Hyderabad, where the baby received treatment from December 21, 2025, to January 21, 2026. The Collector’s report enclosed the Niloufer Hospital report, Nagarkurnool Hospital report, Tahsildar’s report and Panchanamas.
