TPCC flags Telangana neglect after Amaravati Bill cleared

Goud claimed that the promises made to Telangana in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act remained unfulfilled.

Hyderabad: Welcoming Lok Sabha’s passage of the bill to recognise Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana Congress chief B Mahesh Kumar Goud on Wednesday, April 1, accused the Centre of “negligence” towards Telangana’s interests.

Congratulating the people of Andhra, Goud claimed that the promises made to Telangana in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, including a steel factory at Bayyaram in Khammam district, remained unfulfilled.

In a statement, he criticised the union government for “failing” to provide special funds for the development of backward regions and industrial incentives.

The Congress leader demanded that the Centre immediately honour all the assurances given to Telangana.

A bill seeking to recognise Amaravati as the sole and permanent capital of Andhra Pradesh was passed by the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, with the opposition Congress also supporting it along with the NDA.
