
An evening celebrating India’s rich artistic, cultural, and historical heritage. That, in a nutshell, was the launch of Indian Art and Culture: A Journey Through Time and Tradition, authored by distinguished diplomat, scholar, and author Ambassador Dr. Ausaf Sayeed at Northwest Suburban College (NWSC) in Rolling Meadows, Illinois.
The book was formally launched by Ambassador Somnath Ghosh, Consul General of India in Chicago, in the presence of guests, such as Prof. Sampath Ramesh of Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management; Councilman Ashfaq Syed, City of Naperville; Raees Yawer, Streamwood Park district Commissioner; Syed Shanawaz Khan; Mir Khan, Chicago community leader; and M.T. AliNiazee, President of Northwest Suburban College.
Community leaders, educators, cultural enthusiasts, professionals, and friends from across the Chicagoland area came together on Friday, August 21, to celebrate Dr. Sayeed’s latest literary contribution and his lifelong engagement with India’s history, culture, diplomacy, and heritage.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Ambassador Somnath Ghosh praised Dr. Sayeed’s contribution to documenting and promoting India’s cultural heritage.
Journey through India’s cultural landscape
“Ambassador Dr. Ausaf Sayeed has brought his deep understanding of India and his distinguished diplomatic experience to this important work. Indian Art and Culture beautifully reflects the richness, diversity, and continuity of our civilizational heritage and will help introduce India’s remarkable cultural traditions to readers across generations,” said Ambassador Ghosh, Consul General of India in Chicago.
In his book, Ambassador Dr. Sayeed takes readers on a journey through India’s extraordinary cultural landscape, highlighting the depth and diversity of its artistic traditions and the enduring influence of its heritage.
“India’s art and culture tell the story of a civilization that has evolved over thousands of years while continuing to inspire the world,” said Dr. Sayeed. “This book is an effort to celebrate that remarkable heritage and encourage greater appreciation and understanding of India’s cultural traditions.”
The event also served as a gathering point for the Indian American community and friends of India, emphasising the importance of preserving cultural heritage and sharing India’s rich traditions with future generations.
