The United Arab Emirates (UAE) temporarily closed its airspace on Tuesday, March 17, as a precaution after Iranian missile and drone attacks were reported amid the ongoing confrontation involving the United States, Israel and Iran.
The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) said the decision was taken to ensure the safety of flights, air crews and national territory. The announcement followed confirmation from the UAE Ministry of Defence that its air defence systems had responded to a fresh wave of Iranian missiles and drones.
The development comes as the direct confrontation between Iran, Israel and the United States (US) entered its 18th day on Tuesday, with hostilities spreading across several parts of the region.
