Hyderabad: As many as 404 motorists were booked for drunk driving in Hyderabad over the weekend during a special drive on August 21 and 22.
Among those, 352 were two-wheeler riders, 30 were three-wheeler drivers, and 22 were four-wheeler drivers. As many as 179 offenders recorded a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) ranging from 51-100; 92 recorded a BAC of 30-50; 63 recorded a BAC ranging from 101-150; 39 had a BAC of 151-200; 20 recorded a BAC ranging from 201-250; six had a BAC ranging from 251-300 and five had a BAC over 300.
Police have warned that anyone causing a fatal accident in an inebriated state will be booked under Section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and might face a jail term of 10 years.
