Hyderabad: A massive Tiranga rally was organised at Tank Bund in Hyderabad on Saturday, May 17, to pay tribute to the bravery of the Indian armed forces and highlight the success of ‘Operation Sindoor’.
Hundreds of participants marched with the national flag in hand, creating a sea of tricolour across the stretch. Security arrangements were in place, and traffic diversions were managed to facilitate the peaceful conduct of the event.
No question of discussions with Pakistan on Kashmir: Venkaiah Naidu
Speaking at the event, former vice-president M Venkaiah Naidu said that there was no scope for discussions with Pakistan on the issue of Kashmir, and that the only discussions that needed to happen was about merging the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) with India.
He said that there was also need for any country to mediate between India and Pakistan, whether it was USA or China, and Indians need to humbly communicate it to the western world.
“In the last 5,000 years of history, our country has never invaded any other land. Even during the NDA government under the prime ministership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee we became a nuclear power only to defend our country and nothing else. We have been a peaceful country, but when it comes to protecting our sovereignty we will defend our nation,” he said, appealing to the people to protect the institution of family and the country.
‘One-sided Make-in-India war,’ says India’s defence advisor
Terming Operation Sindoor and the military action that followed as a “one-sided war,” defence advisor for India and former DRDO chairperson G Satheesh Reddy said that Hyderabad played a major role in India’s defence action against Pakistan.
He said that Brahmos and Akash missiles, and anti-drone systems were manufactured at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in Hyderabad.
He said that the army was well versed in the latest technology weapons manufactured in India, which were used to launch strikes at Pakistan and to defend the country against Pakistan’s strikes.
“We not only destroyed the terrorist camps, but also Pakistan’s radar systems, their air-bases and Karachi Port. They used missiles to target our country, but our own air defence system has not allowed a single missile to hit Pakistan’s targets in India. The world was surprised to know about our air defence system, which only countries like Israel have,” he said.
He said that the Indian armed forces were well-versed with the weapons manufactured by the scientists in India, and that was the reason why they could hit the targets in Pakistan with such precision.
“This was a made-in-India war, and Aatma Nirbharta war,” he said.
BJP state president G Kishan Reddy, BJLP floor leader A Maheshwar Reddy, former Maharashtra governor K Vidyasagar Rao, BJP MPs Eatala Rajender, DK Aruna and M Raghunandan Rao, Tollywood actress Manchu Lakshmi, singer Mangli, and others participated in the Tiranga rally.
The nationwide ten-day campaign, which began on May 13 and will continue till May 23, includes bike rallies, public gatherings, flag-hoisting ceremonies, and outreach activities in several towns and cities across India.
