‘Giant Leap’ for business, citizens: Amit Shah on Jan Vishwas Bill

The Parliament on Thursday passed the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2026, to amend 784 provisions in 79 central laws for decriminalising and rationalising minor offences.

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has described the passage of the Jan Vishwas Bill, 2026, in Parliament as a “giant step” towards enhancing ease of living and ease of doing business in India.

In a post on X late Thursday, the home minister said, “Cutting down on several legal provisions, it makes Modi Ji’s vision of New India a grand reality by making life easier and business simpler for all.”

The Parliament on Thursday passed the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2026, to amend 784 provisions in 79 central laws for decriminalising and rationalising minor offences to further improve the business environment and check harassment of people.
