Government schools in Telangana soon to become English medium

Officials have been directed to train teachers to make them fluent in English

Hyderabad: Government schools in Telangana are going to introduce English medium for classes I to VIII from the upcoming academic year i.e., 2022-23.

The cabinet sub-committee that was formed to review the proposal to introduce English medium in government schools in Telangana has also submitted a proposal to the State Cabinet. The sub-committee is headed by the education minister P. Sabitha Indra Reddy.

On Wednesday, the sub-committee held a meeting. It has been stated that the textbooks should be printed in bilingual i.e., Telugu and English languages, TOI reported.

Admissions in government schools in Telangana may increase

Apart from it, the officials have been directed to train teachers to make them fluent in English.

Anticipating an increase in admissions in government schools after the introduction of the English medium, the committee said that the education department must be ready to accommodate the students.

The government schools are also gearing up for the introduction of digital classes.

Next meeting will be conducted to discuss another important issue i.e., regulation of fees in private schools in Telangana.

SSC exams in Telangana

As per the recently released schedule, the Telangana State Board of Secondary Education, the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) public exams for the academic year 2021- 2022 will be held from May 11, 2022 to May 20, 2022.

This year, the SSC exams will have six papers instead of the regular eleven papers.
