Hyderabad school razed over alleged govt land encroachment

The school management had reportedly been facing pressure, from a separate party, to vacate the property for the past 10 days.

Hyderabad: Revenue officials on Monday, June 22, demolished the building of The Bambini Creek school in Narsingi after it was found to have been allegedly constructed illegally on nearly one acre of government land in the Musi river floodplain.

The school, located in Manchirevula village in Gandipet mandal, Ranga Reddy district, was found to be operating in violation of land use regulations, officials said.

However, the school’s founder, Umme Salma, contested the manner in which the action was carried out. She said the notice was served at 10 pm on Friday, and the demolition was carried out early Monday morning.

“The notice was not served at a proper time and was not handed over to me either. My parents, my teachers and children are waiting to come here,” she told the media.

Another school official stated that the land belongs to a person named Gyaneshwar and that one Abhilash had been pressuring the school management to vacate the property for the past 10 days. The school has been operational for about a year and a half.

According to other local reports, the school had been given a deadline of July 3 to vacate, but the demolition was carried out before that date. Another person associated with the school alleged that officials arrived without prior notice and removed women from the premises before beginning the demolition.

Parents of the 250 students enrolled at the school have raised concerns about the impact of the demolition on their children’s education.
