Indian nurse in Kuwait accused of supporting Israel, case filed

Kuwait: Amid the ongoing war between Israel and the Hamas militant group, an Indian nurse working at Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital in Kuwait has been accused of supporting Israel, local media reported.

According to Arabic daily Al-Rai, nurse, whose identity has not been revealed, has displayed the flag of Israel on her WhatsApp status.

This comes to light after lawyer Ali Habab Al-Duwaikh filed a complaint before the Public Prosecution against the nurse for supporting the actions of the Israelis in killing Palestinian children, bombing Baptist Hospital.

The lawyer demanded that legal measures to be taken against her.

Supporting the Israel on social media is a violation of Kuwaiti laws, resulting in severe consequences including life imprisonment or a minimum five-year prison sentence.

In a similar instance, a 50-year-old Indian-origin doctor working at a hospital in Bahrain was arrested on Thursday, October 19, for anti-Palestine posts on social media.

Dr Sunil J Rao, who hails from Indian state of Karnataka, is a specialist in internal medicine at Royal Bahrain Hospital, was terminated immediately before his arrest.

The war began on Saturday, October 7, after Hamas infiltrated southern Israel, sending fighters, firing 5,000 rockets. In retaliation, Israeli has been bombarding the Gaza Strip with nearly 5,000 Palestinians and 1,400 Israelis killed so far.
