
Bengaluru: As many as 200 police officers and personnel from across Karnataka have been selected for the prestigious DGP & IGP Commendation Disc Award for 2025-26, recognising their outstanding service and contributions to the police department over the past year.
The award is presented annually to officers and staff who have demonstrated exceptional dedication, professionalism, and commitment in the discharge of their duties. Director General and Inspector General of Police M.A. Saleem released the list of award recipients and issued the official order on Monday.
The selection process considered the officers’ performance, achievements in law enforcement, public service, crime detection, investigation, and overall contribution to maintaining law and order in the state. The commendation disc is regarded as one of the most respected recognitions within the Karnataka Police Department.
Among the prominent officers featured in the award list are Inspector General of Police Shashikumar Deputy Inspector General of Police Bhimashankar Guled , Deputy Commissioner of Police Akshay Machindra , and Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajesh L.Y. Several officers and personnel from various wings of the department, including law and order, crime, traffic, intelligence, and special units, have also been honoured.
Police officials said the recognition aims to motivate personnel and encourage excellence in policing. The award acknowledges the tireless efforts of officers who have gone beyond routine responsibilities in serving the public and strengthening the state’s policing system.
The announcement has been welcomed within the department, with many viewing it as a significant morale booster for the force. The award recipients will be formally honoured at a special function to be organised by the Karnataka Police Department.
