Man steals Rs 14.5 lakh from employer’s shop in Hyderabad, held

Hyderabad: Mirchowk Police on Thursday, February 8, arrested a youth for stealing Rs 14.5 lakh cash from his employer’s tractor spare-parts shop in Old Malakpet.

The accused, identified as Punpun Doley,23, is employed as a daily wage worker at Zam Zam Fastners, Noorkhan Bazar, Hyderabad, and resided in the same building where the shop is located.

The arrest came after a complaint was lodged by Mohd Ahmed Hussain, proprietor of Zam Zam Fastners. According to the complainant, on February 7, upon opening his shop, he discovered a theft of Rs 14.5 lakh from the cash counter. He suspected his employee Punpun Doley who lived in the same building.

The police investigation revealed that on the night of February 7, Doley used an iron bar to break open the shop’s locks and gained access to the office room. He then broke into the main counter table’s upper drawer, stole the cash, and absconded through a small exit gate.

Doley, who had been employed at Zam Zam Fastners for the past six months. His familiarity with the shop’s layout and Mr. Hussain’s routine facilitated the theft plan.

Acting on credible information, Mirchowk Police apprehended Doley at Chiragpally, Zaheerabad, recovering the stolen cash.
