Reason why is Kangana Ranaut out from Lock Upp 2

Addressing the speculation, producer Ektaa Kapoor explained that the makers wanted a completely fresh approach for the new season

Mumbai: With Lock Upp season 2 set to premiere on June 27, fans have been eagerly awaiting details about the new season. The reality show was officially launched at a press conference in Mumbai on June 22, where hosts Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh, along with Netflix India Vice President of Content Monika Shergill, unveiled the upcoming season.

One question that dominated discussions was the absence of Kangana Ranaut, who successfully hosted the show’s debut season in 2022. Addressing the speculation, producer Ektaa Kapoor explained that the makers wanted a completely fresh approach for the new season.

Speaking at the launch event, Ektaa said, “The entire format of the show, the whole vision changed and the demographic, the kind of jailer-judge format we had. Nothing of the original show has been kept. Neither the jailer nor the host, so keeping anything of the old would not bring the fresh presentation of the branding. So I am sure Kangana would have understood.”
