Telangana: DCA seizes banned Etolar-P meds from Karimnagar

The seized Etolar-P drugs seized were marketed by Surewin Healthcare, based in Panchkula, Haryana.

Hyderabad: Officials from the Drugs Control Administration (DCA) detected a banned medicine Etolar-P tablets (Etodolac & Paracetamol tablets) that was being sold illegally in the market and seized stocks of the same.

During special raids conducted on Wednesday, March 13, officials from the DCA’s Karimnagar zone detected the prohibited drug Etolar-P (Etodolac & Paracetamol Tablets). It was found that it was being manufactured by Dr. Edwin Medilabs Private Limited, from Punjab.

The seized Etolar-P drugs seized were marketed by Surewin Healthcare, based in Panchkula, Haryana. According to a press release from the DCA, Etolar-P tablets were detected by DCA at Srihith Medical Agencies, Seetharampur, Karimnagar. In the year 2018, the Government of India banned the drug combination of Etodolac and Paracetamol tablets in the larger public interest.

This prohibition was enacted due to the potential risks posed to human health by this fixed-dose combination, which was found to lack therapeutic justification, said DCA director general V B Kamalsan Reddy.

The Government of India prohibited the manufacture for sale, sale, and distribution for human use of this drug combination in the country on September 7, 2018. M. Srinivasulu, Assistant Director, Karimnagar, P. Karthik Bharadwaj, Drugs Inspector, Karimnagar are among the officers who carried out the raid.

Further investigation shall be carried out and action shall be taken as per the law against all the offenders said the DCA in a press release.
